Terms of Use

Last updated: September 2026

Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully before using the website or services offered by Queer Sober Therapy, LLC ("QST," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing our website or engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.

1. Who We Are

Queer Sober Therapy, LLC is a mental health practice offering individual, couples, and group psychotherapy, primarily to LGBTQIA+ individuals and communities, with a focus on substance use, sobriety, trauma, identity, and related concerns. We offer both telehealth and in-person appointments in the Chicago, Illinois area.

2. Not for Emergencies

Our website and services are not intended for use in a medical or mental health emergency. If you are experiencing a crisis, are in danger, or are having thoughts of harming yourself or others, please call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988. Our clinicians are not able to respond to emergencies in real time through our website, email, or client portal.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to independently accept these Terms and to engage our services on your own behalf. If you are seeking services for a minor, a parent or legal guardian must provide consent and remains responsible for that minor's use of our services in accordance with applicable law.

4. Telehealth Services

Where we offer services via telehealth, those services are provided through a HIPAA-compliant platform. Telehealth has both benefits and limitations compared to in-person care, including potential technology interruptions and the inability to conduct certain physical assessments. By using our telehealth services, you acknowledge these limitations and consent to receiving care in this format. Telehealth services may not be available or appropriate for all clinical situations, and your clinician will discuss with you whether telehealth is appropriate for your care.

5. Your Responsibilities

When using our website or services, you agree to provide accurate information, to use our services lawfully, and not to misrepresent your identity or interfere with the security or proper functioning of our website, client portal, or telehealth platform.

6. Website Content

Content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, and images, is provided for general informational purposes only and does not constitute clinical advice, nor does it establish a therapist-client relationship. A therapist-client relationship is only formed once you have completed our intake process and begun care with one of our clinicians.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on this website is owned by Queer Sober Therapy, LLC or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may view and print website content for your own personal, non-commercial use, but may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from it without our prior written permission.

8. Third-Party Links and Services

Our website may contain links to third-party websites or services, such as our client portal or telehealth platform providers. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of those third parties. Your use of any third-party service is governed by that party's own terms and policies.

9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

Our website and general informational content are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Queer Sober Therapy, LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of our website or general informational content. Nothing in this section is intended to limit any rights or protections you have as a client under applicable healthcare or consumer protection law with respect to services actually rendered to you.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "last updated" date. Your continued use of our website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.

Queer Sober Therapy acknowledges that our Chicago and Oak Park offices are located on the ancestral and traditional homelands of Indigenous peoples who have lived in relationship with this land since time immemorial, including the Council of Three Fires, the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations, as well as other Indigenous peoples with deep and enduring ties to the Chicago region. We recognize that Indigenous communities are not only part of this land’s history, but remain present and vital today. We offer this acknowledgment as one small part of an ongoing responsibility to learn, honor Indigenous sovereignty, and support the communities whose lands we occupy.
