A space to understand yourself, make meaningful changes, and build a life that feels like yours.
At Queer Sober Therapy, individual therapy is our bread and butter. With offices in Oak Park and Lakeview, plus virtual therapy available across Illinois and Wisconsin, we make it easy to find a way of working together that fits your life. Our approach is evidence-based, person-centered, and affirming of all identities. We bring compassion, curiosity, and a healthy dose of realness to the therapy room, helping you better understand yourself, identify what you actually want, and create meaningful, lasting change.
You don't need to have everything figured out before you get here. Sometimes therapy starts with a clear goal. Other times, it starts with, "I know something needs to change, but I have no idea what."
Both are welcome here.
Maybe you're navigating a major transition, questioning old patterns, trying to understand your relationships, or realizing that the ways you've learned to cope aren't working quite as well anymore.
Our Chicago-area therapists work with people navigating:
You can arrive with a specific goal, a whole list of things you'd like to work on, or simply the feeling that you're ready for something to change.
Our therapists are active, collaborative, and human. We'll ask questions, offer observations, challenge you when it's useful, celebrate your wins, and help you notice patterns that might be difficult to see from inside your own life.
As a trauma-informed therapy practice, our work draws from evidence-based approaches while recognizing that no single therapy model works for every person. Together, we'll figure out what works for you, whether you're meeting us in Oak Park, Lakeview, or online from anywhere in Illinois.
Sex therapy creates space to explore sexuality, intimacy, desire, pleasure, sexual functioning, body image, shame, identity, kink, non-monogamy, and your relationship with sex.
Our sex-positive and queer-affirming therapists approach these conversations with openness, curiosity, and respect. You get to explore what sexuality means to you and develop a relationship with sex and intimacy that feels authentic, pleasurable, connected, and aligned with your values.
You don't have to hit rock bottom to question your relationship with substances.
Whether you're sober, sober-curious, practicing harm reduction, questioning your use, returning to recovery, or trying to figure out what you want your relationship with substances to look like, our Chicago addiction therapy team will meet you there.
Our approach is grounded in curiosity rather than shame. We'll explore not only what you're doing, but what substances have done for you, what might need to change, and what you want to build in their place.
